Special Education

Julie Box has dedicated her career to serving students with diverse learning needs since entering the field of special education in 1998. Throughout her career, she has served as a K–12 special education teacher, inclusion facilitator, and, since 2013, as Executive Director of Student Services and Special Education for Sheffield City Schools.

In addition to overseeing special education services, Ms. Box serves as the district's Homeless Liaison, English Learner (EL) Services Coordinator, and District Counseling Coordinator. She also leads the implementation of a rigorous Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to ensure all students receive the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support they need to succeed.

Originally from Florida, Ms. Box has called the Shoals home since 1985. She is the proud mother of three daughters and enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
