Sheffield City Schools Partners with Colbert County District Attorney's and the Helping Families Initiative

The Sheffield City Schools are pleased to announce the partnership with the Colbert County District Attorney’s Office and the launch of the Helping Families Initiative (HFI), a collaborative effort designed to improve student attendance by connecting students and families with community resources at an early stage, prior to involvement with truancy court or the juvenile justice system. 

HFI is a proactive program addressing chronic absenteeism, both excused and unexcused, by identifying and responding to the underlying barriers that prevent regular school attendance. 
The Colbert County District Attorney’s Office will reach out to parents or guardians in the form of a text, email, formal letter or a potential home visit. The program emphasizes early intervention and supportive services to promote consistent school attendance.
