Welcome to Sheffield City Schools. Since 1888 we have been educating the citizens of Sheffield. We take great pride in the many accomplishments of our former students and the positive impact they have had in our city, state, and throughout the world. 

We are located on the bluffs of the beautiful Tennessee River in the heart of the Muscle Shoals area in Sheffield, Alabama. Sheffield is a traditional small town with tree-lined streets and a blend of historical and contemporary homes. Sheffield has a population of approximately 10,000 and boasts a proud heritage. The city was incorporated in 1885 and named for its iron and steel producing sister city Sheffield, England. 

The Sheffield City School System serves approximately 1150 students pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. We have a proud tradition of providing an excellent education through a highly qualified teaching staff. The Sheffield campus consists of W.A.Threadgill Primary (pre-k - 2); L.E. Willson Elementary (3 - 6); Sheffield Junior High (7-8); Sheffield High School (9-12); a historic central office facility; and our adult literacy home which currently houses the HIPPY program.

The mission of Sheffield City School System is to collaborate with families and community members to produce graduates prepared for success through innovative, rigorous, student-centered learning experiences and high expectations for all.

The vision of Sheffield City Schools is to be recognized as a high performing school district that instills high expectations, accountability, collaboration and standards based instruction through the use of best practices.
