I am beginning my 26th year teaching ELA 7 at SJHS. I graduated from SHS in 1990 and UNA in 1994 with a degree in secondary English/Spanish education. I'm married to Tim "Demo" DeMorse and have three children, Catherine, who is a 2015 SHS graduate and is now an RN at Helen Keller Hospital, Emma, and Anna Claire, who are both students at SHS. I also have two dogs, a Goldendoodle named Cooper and a schnauzer named Brodie and a "granddog" named Penny. I attend First United Methodist Church in Sheffield and enjoy cooking, going to the beach, and watching Alabama football. I'm also excited and busy helping my daughter Catherine plan a wedding; she's getting married October 5 (a Saturday that Alabama is NOT playing!).
This year's mission statement for my class is to prepare students to be effective writers, thinkers, and speakers of the English language.
Language Arts 7: ELA 7 focuses on reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary with lessons based on the A+ College Ready curriculum. In addition, emphasis will be placed on vocabulary development utilizing Greek and Latin roots.

High School Ready Reading Class: High School Ready Reading is an elective class designed to help students develop reading strategies that will help them be more successful in high school.
