I am beginning my 25th year teaching ELA 7 at SJHS. I graduated from SHS in 1990 and UNA in 1994 with a degree in secondary English/Spanish education. I'm married to Tim "Demo" DeMorse and have three children, Catherine, Emma, and Anna Claire. I also have two dogs, a goldendoodle named Cooper and a schnauzer named Brodie and a "granddog" named Penny. I attend First United Methodist Church in Sheffield and enjoy cooking, going to the beach, and watching Alabama football. This past May my family enjoyed spending a week in Hawaii and hope to go back in a few years!
This year's mission statement for my class is...
The mission of the English/Language Arts classroom is to prepare students to be effective writers, thinkers, and speakers of the English language.
MY 2018-2019 GOALS:
- Increase reading proficiency by 10%
- Read my Bible more/pray more
- Develop closer relationships with my students
- Continue healthy eating and exercise to keep off the 50 pounds I lost before going to Hawaii!
