Tyrone Prothro Visits Sheffield

Tyrone Prothro the former American football wide receiver who played for the University of Alabama between 2003–2005 visited Sheffield City Schools to speak with students. Prothro was experiencing an amazing college football career and dreaming of the NFL when an injury changed his life's direction. He told students the game that changed his life was one of his best experiences, but turned into his worst. He has had over 11 surgeries to correct the compound fracture he suffered in his left leg. The event is considered one of the most gruesome injuries in recent football history. Prothro talked to the students about his resolve to stand by the commitment he made to his mother to "get his degree." He talked about the difficulties he experienced in school and the perseverance required to excel. Students at L.E.
