Operation Santa is a Christmas Assistance Program coordinated by Sheffield City Schools for students in need who attend W. A. Threadgill Primary School and L. E. Willson Elementary School. In 2016 we helped 69 FAMILIES and 112 CHILDREN have a happier Christmas.
OUR GOAL is to partner with local businesses, churches, and individuals to provide each child in need with a minimum of 4 things (something they want, something they need, an outfit to wear, and something to read) and each family the items needed to make a Christmas Dinner.
Volunteers should complete the online volunteer form. Click here. They will be asked to select one of three options.
VOLUNTEER OPTION 1: CHILD SPONSOR
Provide a child with a minimum of 4 things:
* Something they want
* Something they need
* An outfit to wear
* Something to read
Child sponsors will receive the child’s wish list the week of Nov. 15th.
Donations can be dropped off at the Board of Education Dec. 14th.
VOLUNTEER OPTION 2: CHRISTMAS DINNER SPONSOR
In addition to providing gifts, we want to provide each family with a ham and the groceries needed to prepare a Christmas dinner. Christmas dinner sponsors have two options:
Donate money toward vouchers to cover the cost of the perishable items:
ham, eggs, butter, and potatoes - last year the cost for this was $16.03
Sign up to donate specific non-perishable items:
tea bags, 3 cans of green beans, 3 cans of corn, 1 large can of candied yams, 2 boxes of mac and cheese, 48 oz bottle of vegetable oil, 3 cans of cranberry sauce, 5 lb bag flour, 5 lb bag of sugar, corn bread mix, cake mix, cake frosting, 2 cans of broth, 1 bag of stuffing.
VOLUNTEER OPTION 3: BOTH CHILD SPONSOR AND CHRISTMAS DINNER SPONSOR
