Service-learning is a teaching strategy which connects students to the community through real-world experiences. Sheffield received a service-learning grant from 2001 to 2010. Many Sheffield K-12 teachers incorporated service projects through a mini-grant program.  Learning to Lead Clubs at L.E. Willson and Threadgill completed many projects that focused on building leadership skills and positive character traits to impact success in school. The afterschool program incorporates service learning as character building activities.   This website contains tools which might be useful in implementing service learning programs.
