Our commitment is to equip administrators, teachers, and students with the technology tools needed to compete in the 21st Century and beyond. Superintendent Dr. Tim Morgan says that, "Sheffield City Schools will strive to continue to provide staff and students all the technologies needed to help them become successful. The district wide technology committee comprised of teachers, students, and administrators continues to search for ways to keep SCS a technology leader."

Over the last few years, the school district has experienced enormous advancements in technology. For beginners, the creation of new computer labs at every school campus has allowed students to be able to have technology and its benefits at their fingertips. All classrooms have been converted into 21st Century classrooms with the additions of projectors, document cameras, interactive white boards and new computers and laptops. These technologies are meant to engage the student and assist the teacher in creating the optimal learning environment. Sheffield High School has been an ACCESS Distance Learning partner with the State Education Department since 2006. The High School broadcasts live foreign language classes to other schools in the State that in need of foreign language requirements but have no teachers. Also, our central office and school campuses are now connected via a Metro E fiber optic WAN network. This network is providing 100Mbs of data transfer speed which allows for rapid Internet access and administrative data flow.

The vision of future technology is clear and far reaching. SCS is using technology to diminish the Drop-out Rate, discipline problems, and attendance problems that affect all school systems. SCS is doing this by the use of innovative technologies to engage and excite the students into learning beyond the traditional learning activities.
