Strategies to help students in the classroom before a special education referral is required.
|
|
Response to Instruction (RtI) is a school based intervention program to assist students who may be struggling in reading, math, and their behavior. RtI as defined by Sheffield City School is the assurance that all students receive appropriate instruction for an appropriate amount of time in the general education classroom by a highly qualified teacher with fidelity. A team of dedicated educators known as a problem solving team (PST) will develop an intervention program for the student to help deal with the weaknesses in obtaining a particular skill or to anaylze data to see if a change of instructional practices is needed. If you are a parent and need to make a referral, please contact your local school counselor or David Jones @ 256-383-0400 or djones@scs.k12.al.us.
